3. Pre-scheduled on-site clinic.

The 2008/09 flu season is just around the corner. Influenza is the 6th leading cause of death in the U.S., killing approximately 36,000 people per year. Make sure you, your family, your friends and colleagues are protected.

Additional benefit to your business:

A placebo-controlled study of influenza immunization published in the New England Journal of Medicine convincingly showed the value of vaccination in working adults: Those who were immunized reported 43% fewer days of sick leave and reported 44% fewer doctor’s visits due to upper respiratory illness (URI), Immunization reduced the frequency of URI by 25% and the duration of URI by 20%. The net savings from immunization was $4,685 per 100 employees. The vaccinated group also reported 36% fever days of sick leave due to all illnesses.

We are now scheduling on-site clinics for the 2006-2007 flu season. Please call 415-461-2866 or 1-888-499-PASS (7277) to secure your on-site clinic. We will honor pre-books on a first come first serve basis should we experience another delay or shortage in 2006-2007.

We also offer a “voucher program” in which your group can pre-purchase the vaccine for your on-site clinic. Then if someone is unable to attend, they can use their voucher to receive their flu vaccine later at one of our five convenient locations throughout the bay area.

Sorry, Passport Health cannot not accept health insurance and or Medicare reimbursement.

Our flu vaccination consent form is available here.

Question: I have heard from my child's middle school that there is a new
meningitis vaccine. Do my children need it? Can you tell me more?

Answer: There is a new meningitis vaccine called Menactra that has been
approved by the FDA to prevent a disease called meningococcal
meningitis. It is formulated to be given to individuals between the
ages of 11 and 55.

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) now recommend the vaccine for all
children during their routine pre-adolescent visit (11 12 years of age),
prior to entering high school. It is also recommended for any college
freshman who has not previously received the vaccine, especially if they
are living in dormitories. Many schools and colleges require that the
vaccine be given prior to admission, so you might want to check with
your local school district.

Because Menactra provides long lasting immunity, one vaccination can
protect your middle school child through his or her college years.

For older adults, the meningitis vaccine is recommended by the CDC to
protect travelers going to certain countries where meningitis is
prevalent. Menactra can be given to travelers who are under 55; the
original vaccine formulation, Menomune, is still available to travelers
over 55.

Call us to discuss this in greater detail and to schedule an appointment
for your vaccines.
